Pastor Bruce began the message on May 22 by again sharing the words of Revelation 1:3 – “Blessed are those who hear the words of the revelation and heed the words they hear. After sharing those words he prayed that we might open our eyes, our ears, and our heart to hear and receive the message contained in God’s Word – he also prayed that we might receive the blessings that come with heeding His Words.
The past few weeks Pastor Bruce has focused on the apostle John’s revelation – the revelation of “the things to come”. Those things that John saw and heard after he was called to heaven. He saw the stark contrast of the glory of heaven, the glory that God has for those who accept His gift and believe in His Son Jesus Christ compared to the waiting judgement for those that don’t respond and accept.
In the message Pastor Bruce begins to share Revelation 6… there in chapter 6 we begin to see the horror of God’s judgment on earth for those that are left behind. Those that are left behind because they heard but did not heed God’s message. Pastor Bruce then closed the service by once again reminding us of that stark contrast; the stark contrast in the consequences of our choice – are we truly heeding the Words that we hear?
I am reminded of the words of Jesus in John chapter 12: 44-50. In those verses Jesus was ministering to crowds for the final time. Here Jesus also reminds the crowd the stark contrast of their choices – in verse 47, Jesus tells them that – “If anyone hears my words but does not keep them… there is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words, the very words I have spoken will condemn
Reject the words of Jesus be condemned to eternal life apart for God. them at the last day.”
Our choices –
1. Heed the words of Jesus and receive eternal life with God
2. Reject the words of Jesus and be condemned to eternal life apart from God.
The choice is ours –Why would we reject, when there is so much at stake?
Thanks Pastor Bruce for your faithfulness in reminding us both of God’s promises and warnings.
May we both hear and heed God’s Words!
